Show Me/Tell Me Q & A


The ADI part 2 test is the test of your own driving ability,

 which to pass you must display a high level of driving competence,

 and is likened to an Advanced Driving Test.

 The test itself lasts for one hour and covers a variety of different roads, including motorways.

 To ensure a pass you must have no major/dangerous faults

 and only 6 minor faults are permitted. In your driving you must display;

· Expert handling of the controls
· Application of correct road procedure
· Anticipation of the actions of other road users and taking appropriate action
· Sound judgement of speed, distance and timing
· Consideration for the convenience and safety of other road users

The eyesight test.

  You must be able to read a car number plate from a distance of 27.5 meters (90`)

 where the numbers are 79.4 mm tall

 (three and one eighth of an inch), fail this and the test cannot continue.

There are more manoeuvres on the ADI part 2 test than on the Normal driving test.

 The manoeuvres, which must be carried out successfully during the course of the test are;

· Move away, straight ahead or at an angle
· Overtake, meet and cross the path of other vehicle taking an appropriate course and without undue hesitancy
· Turn left and right hand corners correctly and without undue hesitancy
· Stop the vehicle in an emergency
· Reverse into openings on the left and right
· Reverse park into a space behind a parked vehicle
· Turn the car to face the opposite direction using forward and reverse gears

You will be given three chances to pass the test but if you fail you will have to wait until 2 years after you passed your theory test before you can re-sit the exam.
